Custodial history/provenance: The bulk of this Collection was formed by William Lawrence Taylor (1829-1910), a Peterhead scholar-bookseller, which was acquired from his trustees by Dr Willam Dey, a member of the University Court, who presented it to the Library in 1910. Taylor made contributions to Julian's Dictionary of Hymnology where his knowledge of the subject area can be readily seen. Also, other psalmody literature in other collections, were added to his collection at the time it was catalogued.
