Paul Botley (Warwick),  ‘Johannes Woverius of Hamburg (1574-1612) and the Idea of the Scholar’

Paul Botley is Associate Professor (Reader) in the Department of English and Comparative Literary Studies at Warwick University. He has published widely on aspects of Renaissance culture and the Republic of letters and has worked extensively on the correspondence of several key scholars of the Northern Renaissance including Joseph Scaliger, Richard ‘Dutch’ Thomson and Isaac Causaubon, and the ways in which their writings have been censored and manipulated through the ages. 

 

Each seminar is open to guest participants via Blackboard Collaborate.
