Liz Oakley Brown is Senior Lecturer in the Department of English Literature and Creative Writing at Lancaster University, UK.She is currently writing a book for Routledge’s new Spotlight on Shakespeare series – concise books exploring ‘the vital purchase of the modern world on Shakespeare’s work’ – called Shakespeare on the Surface.Liz’s talk considers the overarching aims of this current project in terms of premodern surface studies and its particular relevance for September 2019.
