Since the enactment of the Gaelic Language (Scotland) Act 2005 many public bodies in Scotland are committed to promoting the use of the Gaelic language which implies a range of job opportunities in teaching, education management, government, tourism, community development, translation and localisation industries.

Many public bodies, like the University of Aberdeen, have developed a Gaelic Language Plan. Often these agencies also employ a designated Gaelic Development Officer to oversee the Plan's implementation.
