Flexible learning secures Faiza her MBA

Studying for her MBA Global online gave Faiza Aziz Qureshi the opportunity to immerse herself in University life, while maintaining a flexible schedule and studying on her own terms.

Faiza, from Doha, was drawn to the University of Aberdeen for its unique and historic campus, while cherishing her experience studying from her home in Qatar.

She explains: "I chose the University of Aberdeen not only for its long and successful history as a highly reputed institution but also because its stunning, historic campus fascinated me.

“The beautiful buildings and rich heritage made me feel like I was part of something significant, a place where generations of students have thrived. As an international student from Qatar, having lived in the UK for a while, I felt this was the perfect blend of familiarity and new experiences.

“I knew this was the right place to build my future—not just for its academic excellence but for the inspiration I felt from being in such an incredible environment. The university's sense of tradition and its global community made me confident that Aberdeen was where I could truly achieve my dreams."

Completing her MBA online meant Faiza could fit her studies around her other commitments and even though she was studying virtually, she managed to foster connections with her lecturers and peers.

Faiza continues: “As someone balancing my studies with personal commitments, I found the flexibility of the online MBA program crucial. Despite the virtual nature, I felt deeply connected to my professors and fellow students through interactive sessions and group projects, where we collaborated across different time zones.

“One highlight was leading a remote team on a business case study, which enhanced my leadership and communication skills in a digital environment. While managing coursework alongside my personal life presented its challenges, the support from the University, combined with my discipline and resilience, helped me succeed.

“I'm incredibly grateful to be taking away three exceptional friends—lifelong relationships that made this journey even more meaningful. Special thanks to the University for fostering these connections that will last a lifetime."

While some students are excited to leave their studies behind and leap into the next stage of life, Faiza will miss University life and the challenges it held for her.

“Graduating feels bittersweet. I’m excited to reach this milestone, but a part of me is sad about leaving the University of Aberdeen behind. Oddly enough, I’ll miss the stress of completing assessments on time. Those early mornings with a cup of coffee and my MacBook, dedicating hours to my studies, have become a routine.

“The journey was a challenging two years, and I often struggled to juggle my studies with my family responsibilities. As a mom, giving equal time to my kids and my education was sometimes stressful, but I always managed to push through. I have to give special thanks to my husband for taking care of everything so beautifully.

“As I prepare to move forward, I realise I’ll miss that routine—the chaos, the deadlines, the satisfaction of a job well done. It was a demanding journey, but one that has shaped me in so many ways.”

While she’ll miss her studies, Faiza is excited for the journey ahead and is ready to embrace it with confidence.

“I am planning to establish my own business soon. Completing my MBA has given me the confidence and skills to take this bold step, and I'm excited to apply everything I've learnt to build and expand my business.

“I look forward to navigating the real estate market's challenges and opportunities, using my business management background to create something truly successful. This new venture represents a personal and professional milestone and I'm eager to see where it takes me.”
