Business school students honoured at annual EY Prize Giving Ceremony

The University of Aberdeen Business School honoured its high achieving students at a recent prize giving ceremony. The Annual Prize Giving for Accountancy, Finance and Real Estate students, sponsored by EY, took place at the Duncan Rice suite in the University of Aberdeen library. The event celebrates students' academic success across a range of disciplines and provides an opportunity for students to meet industry professionals.

There was an international flavour at the prize giving, as students from Scotland, India, Hungary, Germany, Lithuania, Hong Kong and the Czech Republic picked up awards. Over 20 awards were handed out, from sponsors including EY, KPMG, and PwC.

One of the prize-winning students, Minna Berglund, received the Carbon Financial Prize for being the best performing student in the Personal Finance and Investment module.

“Winning the prize boosted my confidence and has been a huge encouragement to me, both personally and academically,” she said.

“I was given the opportunity to develop and apply my knowledge of financial planning, and my performance has helped me with a summer internship with Carbon Financial Partners Ltd, who sponsor the prize.  All in all I found the experience very rewarding and valuable for my future.”

Dr Laura McCann, a lecturer in Accounting and Finance who helped organise the event, praised the high standards set by the prize winning students.

“The annual prize giving event provides us with the opportunity to recognise and celebrate the academic achievements of our Undergraduate Accountancy, Finance and Real Estate students in the Business School.

“I would like to congratulate all winning students on their success as it is great to see their hard work acknowledged and rewarded. I would also like to thank the event sponsor, EY, and the other prize sponsors for continually supporting and rewarding our students.”
