We are delighted to welcome David Millar, Technology Accelerator Director of OGTC to speak to postgraduate students of the University of Aberdeen.

David will provide insight into his career in the energy sector and explain how OGTC inspires and supports entrepreneurship and innovation.

David Millar, Technology Accelerator Director

As Technology Accelerator Director, David works with entrepreneurs, SMEs, academia and the oil and gas industry to stimulate and accelerate new technology innovation. David brings over 15 years' experience across start-ups, operators and service companies such as ABB, Shell, BP, ENI and Wood, developing and delivering organisational learning, improvement and technology innovation programmes with great success. Driven by his passion to make a difference for the industry and the North-East, his leadership of the TechX programme is bringing an award winning and world class support offering to start-ups looking to break into the UK energy sector. David joined us in 2017 from Wood where he held several senior operational contract roles, was awarded their Global Innovation Core Value Award in 2016 and set up and the company's global 'Innovation for Growth function' which pioneered their digital focused eWorking programme.

 

OGTC

The OGTC was established in October 2016 with £180 million from the Aberdeen City Region Deal, with funding support from UK and Scottish Government, Aberdeen City and Shire Councils and Opportunity North East. Their mission is to be the go-to technology centre for the oil and gas industry - both in the UK and internationally. Through their seven solution centres - Asset Integrity, Wells, Marginal Developments, Decommissioning, Digital Transformation, Subsurface and Net Zero (launched in September 2019) - they are working with cross-industry organisations to support technology development that will solve key industry challenges.
