CPD Services

CPD Services provide support, advice and an event management service for academics organising a range of events aimed at an external audience.  We can help with:

  • Budgeting
  • Sample documentation
  • Event advice
  • Event management – a full admin service

For example:

  • budgeting and financial planning
  • marketing and website maintenance
  • delegate registration and abstract management
  • social programmes management
  • on-the day support

We sit within Research and Innovation and have experience in managing a wide variety of events both on and off-campus, in Aberdeen and further afield.  We can also provide practical advice if you are interested in offering a commercial version of an MSc or other credit bearing programme.

Aberdeen Ambassador Programme

The Ambassador Programme supports experts and innovators from every field in bidding for and winning conferences, meetings and exhibitions. We believe Aberdeen's growth and prosperity are linked to the talents of its high-profile figures. We work with leaders across the academic and business communities in order to attract events of all kinds.

The scheme allows you to showcase your research and raise your own profile within your area of specialism, giving your subject matter a wider audience through Aberdeen Convention Bureau's support and promotion.

By putting Aberdeen forward as a destination for a future conference of your society, association, institution or organisation, we can offer the following free and impartial services:

  • Preparation of bid documents Production of a tailor made document for the conference committee with detailed information on Aberdeen, venue costs, accommodation, social programmes etc.
  • Site inspection and familiarisation visits Co-ordinate and host site inspection visits. Apply for bid support, which may include air and travel subsistence
  • Pre-marketing  A bureau representative can attend the conference the preceding year in order to maximise delegate attendance
  • Venue location and reservation Source and reserve a suitable venue to meet the conference requirements
  • Accommodation booking service  A comprehensive accommodation booking service can be provided
  • Social programmes Assistance with ideas and suggestions for social programmes
  • Visitor information Free information can be provided for delegates such as city guides.
