CPD - Rowett/INRA, Gut Microbiology

The aim of the conference is to promote understanding of the complex microbial ecosystems that are present in the digestive tract of man and animals, and their interactions with the host. It is therefore of interest to those working to improve human and animal health and nutrition through dietary manipulation, and to any scientist concerned with the microbial ecology of the digestive tract and the interplay between micro-organisms and their hosts.

Topics to be addressed will include:

	Microbial diversity in health and disease
	Response of the gut microbiota to dietary change
	Microbial metabolism of dietary components
	Mechanisms of action of pro- and prebiotics
	Influence of the gut microbiota on host energy metabolism and weight control
	Microbial interactions with the immune system
	Application of metagenomics and metabolomics
