Philosophy with Children

Overview

The Philosophy with Children CPD course is for primary and secondary school teachers and education providers interested in understanding how discussion of philosophical questions can be usefully integrated in their teaching curriculum.

The course illustrates how to facilitate one-hour sessions of Philosophical inquiry with pupils of all ages. No background in Philosophy is required.

Topics include:

  • Applying critical thinking in new contexts
  • Thinking creatively to solve problems
  • Understanding different beliefs
  • Learning to participate responsibly in a community of inquiry

Feedback from previous participants:

A mentally stimulating and challenging day, providing practical ideas and structure, to promote philosophical discussion within the classroom as a way to encourage divergent thinking and healthy social discourse. Suitable for both primary and secondary contexts. Would highly recommend.
