Funding

There are a number of sources of funding that support industry collaborations with the University of Aberdeen. Some of the most frequently used are outlined below.

Innovate UK

Innovate UK support businesses to realise the potential of new technologies, develop ideas and make them a commercial success. If you want to develop an innovative product, process or service, you may be able to apply for funding of between £25,000 and £10 million.

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships are a UK Government funded knowledge transfer mechanism designed to increase the competitiveness of the UK's industrial base. Access expertise and funding to see genuine business impact.

Innovation Centres

An initiative from the Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise and Highlands & Islands Enterprise to link academic expertise and businesses across eight different sectors of strategic interest for the Scottish economy.

Research Councils

Each research council offers distinct opportunities for companies and third sector organisations to work with University researchers, ranging from PhD studentships to funded research.

Innovation Vouchers for SMEs

Funding options (£5k to £25k) are available for SMEs to work with Universities to help businesses grow. Most schemes are match-funded, meaning you are expected to make a cash or in-kind contribution to the project to match the value of the grant.

European Funding & Horizon

Horizon is the EU programme for research and development, with funding still available for UK projects. Search for funding and stay up to date with the latest project calls.
