Potential students and their parents will be able to hear all sorts of advice this week about undergraduate university and college life.
The University of Aberdeen is hosting the annual Higher Education Convention at Kings College starting tomorrow ( Thursday, September 20) between 9.45am and 12 noon; 1pm and 3pm, 5.30pm to 7.30pm and on Friday (September 21) between 9.45am and 12 noon.
Organised by Skills Development Scotland, in association with UCAS and the University of Aberdeen, the Convention will see college and university representatives from all over the UK gather under one roof.
Almost 40 organisations will have people at the event giving information and advice to would-be students and their families.
All Scottish universities and local colleges will be represented and there will also be people from a range of institutions from other parts of the UK, including Oxford, the University of Newcastle and Imperial College London, as well as representatives from universities in New Zealand.
Details about further and higher education courses and accommodation will be among the information on offer to visitors. UCAS will be giving talks on the UCAS entry process and the Student Awards Agency for Scotland will also on hand with up-to-date finance information.
Every secondary school in Grampian has been invited to attend the event; however, the Convention is open to anyone, of any age, who is interested in further and higher education. Admission to the Convention is free.
For people who need some help with their next step, Skills Development Scotland careers advisers will be on hand to provide impartial and professional career information, advice and support.

It is obviously a big decision for the whole family so parents are welcome to come along and find out how best they can support their children.
“Further and higher education can mean a significant commitment for the whole family and it’s important that students and their parents have access to the facts before they make any decisions.”
