Oscar brings science festival fun to Union Square

Shoppers in Aberdeen had a taste last weekend of the fun ahead as the British Science Festival prepares to hit town.

Oscar the talking robot and friends met shoppers in Union Square retail centre last Saturday 18 August to get the science buzz going ahead of the Festival starting in less than two weeks' time.

members of the public were invited to make their own neuron coaster and find out how neurons work in the brain, and to discover ‘Where did my dinner go?’ with a street theatre style presentation of the human digestive system featuring giant props and colourful characters.

Local radio station Northsound broadcast live from the event with competitions to guess a science anagram and have the chance to win an iPad.

Waterstone’s Union Bridge branch played host to an array of sizzling summer science, to give budding discoverers a taste of what they can expect at Festival events, with a free family session instore showcasing a selection of scientific wonders for the public to enjoy.

The full programme and online booking for British Science Festival events is available at www.britishsciencefestival.org, by calling 08456 807 207 or visiting the Aberdeen box office.
