Event to help protect your inventions and business ideas

The University of Aberdeen will host an event designed to help people with a business idea or an invention to protect their rights.

The event, on Thursday March 15, at the Careers Service is designed to assist anyone with an idea for a business or an invention who might need to protect their intellectual property through patents but does not know how.

The evening is aimed at anyone wanting to know how to protect their ideas, or those who are interested in this area of law.

The evening will be led by Ewan Nielson of Stronachs solicitors along with a team of patents experts, including Matt Lincoln of Lincoln IP, a firm specialising in patent and trade mark.

Janice Montgomery, Enterprise Activities Manager, in the Careers Service at the University of Aberdeen said: “We are delighted to host such a prestigious local company as Stronachs, known throughout the North East for their support of business development accompanied by Lincoln IP, to talk our students and staff through the intricacies of establishing Intellectual Property and registering patents.

“This collaboration with a local legal practice provides an additional opportunity to the support provided by our own Department of Research and Innovation, contextualised in the story of entrepreneur Tony Bamford of Geoprober Ltd.”

The event takes place 6.30 – 8.00pm on the 2nd Floor of the Hub on Elphinstone Road.

The event is free of charge but participants are asked to register on the Careers Service website to ensure a place at Intellectual Property Event
