University of Aberdeen ranked among best in UK for student satisfaction

The University of Aberdeen is joint third in Scotland and joint 15th in the UK for student satisfaction, according to figures released today (Wednesday August 18).

The institution achieved its highest ranking to date in the National Student Survey, by the Higher Education Funding Council for England, which rates student opinion in areas including teaching, academic support and learning resources.

A total of 150 higher education institutions were evaluated in the annual assessment.

Results show 89% of final year undergraduates at the University are satisfied with the quality of their degree course.

Rachel Sandison, Head of Student Recruitment and Admissions at the University of Aberdeen said: "We welcome the National Student Survey results which are a strong reflection of the emphasis and importance the University of Aberdeen places on the quality of experience we offer to students.

"Listening to the opinions of our students is a priority, which is achieved through regular evaluations to ensure that the support systems and facilities we have in place are meeting their demands and needs.

“The recent reform to our curriculum is evidence of our continued drive to provide the best experience and opportunities for students that will differentiate them from other graduates.

“The major restructuring means that undergraduate students embarking on degrees at the University in September will enjoy benefits including more flexible entry and exit points at each level, increased support for study breaks and wider opportunities to broaden experience and skills through overseas study, work placements and voluntary work.

“The University is also committed to a £270million investment in campus facilities over the next 10 years to enhance the experience of students studying at the institution.

“These major investments in buildings and infrastructure include the Aberdeen Sports Village and the Suttie Centre for Teaching and Learning in Healthcare which offers medical students an unrivalled learning experience.”
