Lifelong Learning students awarded for their academic achievements

Over a hundred students from across the North-east of Scotland who have undertaken studies through the University of Aberdeen’s Centre for Lifelong Learning will be awarded for their academic efforts this week.

Scholars who have completed degree programmes, courses and diplomas via part-time and distance learning will be presented with certificates at ceremonies in Aberdeen on Tuesday (August 25) and Inverness on Thursday (August 27).

The University’s Centre for Lifelong Learning is responsible for promoting wider access to higher education.

Students can attend classes throughout the North and East of Scotland by means of a network of learning centres.

The centre’s recent introduction of new courses delivered via the internet, also means students can now study from anywhere in the world.

Donald Paterson, Deputy Director of the University of Aberdeen’s Centre for Lifelong Learning said: “This year the University’s Centre for Lifelong Learning has awarded over five hundred course certificates, programme certificates and diplomas.  This week marks the academic culmination for over one hundred of these students who will attend ceremonies to receive certificates for their achievements.

“The Centre for Lifelong Learning offers a range of flexible academic opportunities for students wishing to undertake studies on a part time or distance basis - some of whom may find it difficult to return to education due to work or family commitments.

“We are very proud of the achievements of all of our students, and greatly admire the determination and commitment shown. We look forward to welcoming new and returning students to our wide range of programmes starting in September.”

The Centre for Lifelong Learning ceremonies will take place at Zeste on the University’s King’s College Campus - where certificates will be presented to students by Professor Stephen Logan, Senior Vice Principal of the University of Aberdeen - and the University of Aberdeen Inverness Learning Centre, Castle Heather in Inverness.
