University of Aberdeen jumps up ten points in The Times Good University Guide

The University of Aberdeen now ranks 26th out of all British universities according to the year 2000 issue of The Times Good University Guide published last week. This represents a jump of 10 points against its rating in 1999.

Commenting on the publication, Principal C Duncan Rice said: “As always, these figures should be treated with some caution but the trend lines are certainly in the right direction.

“These figures reflect the hard work and commitment shown by all staff and I am confident that further improvements are still to come.”

The Guide draws attention to improvements in staff/student ratios and investment in library and other facilities as factors involved in Aberdeen’s climb up the table. Of the 13 Scottish universities, Aberdeen is now ranked at number four.

The University also scored well in the recent Times Higher Education Supplement, notably with a 97% figure for graduate employment.
