Aberdeen appoints new Director of Health Economics Research Unit

The University of Aberdeen is delighted to announce that Bob Elliott, Professor of Economics at Aberdeen, has taken up a part-time post as Director of Health Economics Research Unit (HERU).

Professor Elliott will continue with his role within the Economics Department and will contribute 50% of his time in directing HERU, a Unit funded by the Chief Scientist Office, Department of Health.

Professor Stephen Logan, Provost of the University of Aberdeen and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine & Medical Sciences, said: "I am delighted that we have recruited an economist of Professor Elliott's standing for this key position. I look forward to the further development of the excellent Health Economics Research Unit, under Professor Elliott's leadership."

Professor Roland Jung, Chief Scientist at the Department of Health, said: “We welcome this development and the opportunity it presents to create strong leadership for this important professional group. Experts within this area are in very short supply and we are delighted that Professor Elliott has accepted this post. We believe that the closer relationship between health economics and the parent discipline will be of mutual benefit.”
