People and the Knowledge Economy - Unlocking the Future

Business leaders from across the UK are expected to attend a major all day business event next week (Thursday June 27) at the University of Aberdeen to hear, discuss and debate current thinking, best practice and future implications of the knowledge economy.

Because the way people work is changing - more teleworking, more project-based contracts, more flexibility - the traditional working practises, including retaining and developing people, need to be reviewed. This one-day business event will provide a forum to hear about current thinking, debate best practise, share ideas and discuss future implications and the way forward in the knowledge economy.

Organised by Prospect CPD of the University of Aberdeen and sponsored by Continuum, International Recruitment and Development specialists, the principle aim of the day is to share expert opinion among key company decision makers, CEOs and human resource strategists on how the 'new' economy affects retention and development of industry's key resource - people.

Key note speakers include Maggie Morrison, Operations Director Scotland and Ireland, Cisco Systems Ltd; Richard Scase, Europe's leading business strategist and author of Britain 2010: the Changing Business Landscape and Living in the Corporate Zoo and Susan Rice, Chief Executive, Lloyds TSB Scotland. The event is to be chaired by Annette Evans, a well-known figure in the North of Scotland, whose work in enabling people to reach their potential is perfectly aligned to the people needs of the knowledge economy.

The event will also involve parallel and sectoral discussion groups on key topics relating to people and

business management in the knowledge economy as well as a post event web forum where delegates can

share thoughts and seek advice on taking forward approaches.
