Over 60 Entrance Bursaries and Scholarships, totalling more than £60,000 are now available for new students intending to study at the University of Aberdeen in the next academic year, starting September 2003.
Coping with the financial burden of full-time undergraduate study is a major concern for students. The University of Aberdeen offers a number of Entrance Bursaries and Scholarships, designed to help new students manage their expenses and ease the financial pressures on them.
This year around 60 awards are available for entry in September 2003. Half are based on merit with the remainder available to those in financial need. 15 of these entrance awards are designated Prince of Wales Scholarships, the name reflecting the long association between the Royal family and University and continuing a tradition now over 500 years old. HRH The Prince of Wales is currently Patron of the University Sixth Century Campaign
Dr Colin Milton, Entrance Bursary Scheme Administrator said: “The University recognises that students are under continued financial pressure. Over the last few years, we have increased both the number and value of entrance bursaries available and are very pleased to be able to continue to offer 15 Prince of Wales Scholarships. HRH The Prince of Wales has shown his personal interest in the Scholarships and has previously invited award holders to a reception at Balmoral. Awards are easy to apply for with all information and application forms available on the web.”
The Prince of Wales Scholarships are funded by The Royal Bank of Scotland and are worth £1000 for each year of undergraduate study at the University of Aberdeen.
