Numbers on the up and up for University's Open Day

Preparations for the University of Aberdeen's fifth annual Open Day are well underway and bookings for this year's event are soaring. It is anticipated that upwards of 4,000 people will descend on the King's College and Foresterhill campuses next month for one of the biggest events in the University calendar.

Thousands of people will get the chance to see what the University has to offer when it hosts the event on Tuesday, 24 August.

A packed programme of events has been planned to showcase the University and offer potential students the chance to experience a taste of student life. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet with staff and students, take a tour of the campus and participate in a range of interactive sessions. The Medical School is offering a full programme at the Foresterhill campus. Prospective students are also invited to stay overnight in halls of residence and attend an exclusive party on Monday, 23 August.

Lisa Rattray, Marketing Officer and Open Day Co-ordinator, is delighted at this year's bookings which have exceeded expectations. She said: "Compared to numbers at this stage last year, bookings are looking very healthy for this year's Open Day. Popular disciplines with visitors include Biomedical Sciences, Chemistry, Psychology and Education."

Lisa is looking forward to welcoming visitors to the campus. She added: "The Open Day represents one of the most important events in the University's year and now attracts thousands of people. Last year's event was a huge success and we are aiming to make this year's event even better."

The Open Day team is ready to take calls and bookings so people are being asked to book up now to avoid disappointment. The website also includes a full programme of events and activities and places can be booked online at www.abdn.ac.uk/openday. Alternatively, phone the Student Recruitment and Admissions team on freephone 0800 027 1495.
