One of Britain’s leading documentary makers will visit the North-east next week to talk about her controversial body of work.
Jane Treays, whose films Mum, Heroin and Me (2008) and the Virgin Daughters (2008) recently aired on Channel 4 to critical acclaim, will take part in the University of Aberdeen's Director's Cut series on Tuesday, December 9 at 6pm.
She is the latest leading filmmaker to be interviewed as part of the hugely popular public talks series, which has attracted a host of names from across the world of international film and broadcasting.
Sir David Attenborough, Chilean director Raul Ruiz and English filmmaker Nicolas Roeg have all featured, with Bafta Award-winning director Pawel Pawlikowski joining the Director's Cut cast last month.
Jane Treays is one of the foremost documentary directors in British television, with her films often provoking strong public reaction.
Her subjects have included rocks stars, prepubescent beauty queens and flashers, with the latter film – Men in the Woods (2005) – sparking over 2,400 viewer calls following its broadcast.
More recently, her work for Channel 4 has seen her focus on the relationship between a mother and her heroin-addicted daughter as well as documenting the purity movement in the United States, which contends that women should be un-kissed virgins on their wedding day.

The Director's Cut event featuring Jane Treays takes place at King's College Centre, King's College on Tuesday, December 9 at 6pm and is followed by a drinks reception hosted by Scottish Screen. Admission is free.
