The Government's DNA watchdog, the Human Genetics Commission, will meet at Elphinstone Hall tomorrow (September 23)
The HGC will be publicising its three month consultation into the National Police DNA database.
Britain presently has the world's largest database of this kind with more than four million people on it.
One of the strongest issues around the database is that DNA identificiation remains on it for life while, in Scotland, it is removed if a person is found not guilty.
The growing number of companies offering genetic testing to the public will also be discussed at the two-day meeting.
The main session on Wednesday is open to the public and starts at 10.15am.
