Still time to book place on Science Applicant Day

Would-be science students from across Britain and beyond are visiting the University of Aberdeen in two weeks’ time.

The visitors – which include a possible student from Portugal – are touring the campuses at Old Aberdeen and Foresterhill for this year’s Bachelor of Sciences Applicant Day.

Academics from a wide range of areas will be on hand to greet guests and provide advice on the huge variety of BSc courses offered at Aberdeen.

Departments offering information packed sessions to potential students include Biological Sciences; Computing Science; Geography and Environment; Geology and Petroleum Geology, Marine and Coastal Resource Management; Mathematical Sciences; Medical Sciences; Physics; Psychology and Public Health.

Chemistry will also offer a tour of the department, visits to teaching and research labs, and staff will provide an informative lecture about the course structures and career opportunities as chemists.

Elsewhere key advice will be offered on careers in finance, student support services and student life.

Morna Annandale, Assistant College Registrar (Teaching & Learning) for the University’s College of Life Sciences, has organised the event. She said: “BSc Applicant Day is a great opportunity for people who have been offered a place at the University of Aberdeen to see for themselves the high quality teaching facilities we have here.

“We hope that, combined with the great quality of life the North-east enjoys, persuades them to confirm their place at Aberdeen.”

There is still time for those who have been offered a place to study science at Aberdeen to register their attendance at BSc Applicant Day which takes place on Wednesday, March 1.
