University athletes honoured at Aberdeen Sports Awards

Students, alumni, and athletes with links to the University of Aberdeen's performance sports programmes picked up a clutch of awards at last night's Aberdeen Sports Awards, held at the AECC.

Trampoline star and sports bursar Kim Beattie took the Student Sports Achiever of the Year award, while Toni Shaw, from University of Aberdeen Performance Swimming (UOAPS), claimed the Junior Disability Sports Achiever of the Year title.

Toni’s fellow UOAPS team member Conner Morrison was named Disability Sports Achiever of the Year, while Hannah Miley – another UOAPS member - was highly commended in the Adult Sports Achiever of the Year category, which was won by University alumna and track star Zoey Clark.

Meanwhile, Zoey’s coach Eddie McKenna won Coach of the Year (over 26), joining Zoey, Conner and Toni in winning their nominated category for the second year running.

The University of Aberdeen also sponsored this year’s Junior Achiever Award, which Principal George Boyne presented to local schoolgirl and freestyle skier Kirsty Muir.
