Your Time at Aberdeen

Why did you choose to study at Aberdeen?
UoA has a long standing reputation of one of the finest universities in the UK. I was really fascinated by the MSc programme in Medical Physics. 

Why did you choose your particular course?
The Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering department has been at the forefront of developments in MRI technologies. The work by Prof. Lurie and Prof. Hutchinson is phenomenal. 

What did you most enjoy about your time at Aberdeen?
There is a big list of things! I enjoyed having conversations with my professors about their journey and history of the department. I loved visiting the main library and reading for hours. The walk from student accommodation to the Royal Infirmary is what I used to enjoy a lot.

If talking to a group of prospective students, what advice would you give them to help them make the most of their time at the University of Aberdeen?
Aberdeen is a beautiful city. The university campus has a lot to offer. There are some very talented minds, they will try and impart you with the best of knowledge in your chosen field of study so grab the opportunity!

Your Time After Aberdeen

What was your first job after graduating from Aberdeen and what did it involve?
Pre-reg Clinical Engineer with East Kent NHS Trust which involved medical devices governance, clinical incidence investigation, root cause analysis, quality management and ISO certification.

What is your current role?
Lead Scientist for Women's Health and CYP with East Kent NHS Trust where I am now involved with medical device specification, device trial and evaluation, project management, research and policy making.

Please briefly describe the journey from your first job after graduating to where you are now.
It has been a learning curve. I faced challenges and conquered different milestones in my career.

Was your degree at Aberdeen essential for getting to where you are now?
Yes, definitely.
