The University of Aberdeen Foundation, formerly known as The UADT USA, invites you to an exclusive reception in the Pool Room and Garden at the River Club, 447 East 52nd Street, New York. Vice Principals of the University and the Dean for North American Affairs will join Professor Michael Keating, Professor of Politics at Aberdeen and Director of the Scottish Centre for Constitutional Change.
Discussion in the UK of the referendum on independence from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland called by the Scottish government for Thursday September 18, 2014 is becoming increasingly urgent. This is an attempt to inform the discussion on this side of the Atlantic, which is sometimes characterized by an assumption that the vote will be sweepingly in favor of the status quo.
Professor Keating, an Oxford graduate with a PHD from Glasgow Caledonian, is a fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, The British Academy and the Academy of Social Sciences. He has published widely on Scottish politics, European politics and public policy. I will facilitate the discussion in my professional capacity as a BBC radio broadcaster and host of the international affairs show Up All Night on the UK network BBC Five Live.
We welcome alumni, friends and supporters of the University to join us in what will be a highly topical evening. We are proud that our two inaugural Alumni Chapters, New York and New England, have recently been launched and hope that many of their members will be able to join us.
