Join Professor Bill Naphy - Director of Graduate School and fellow graduates, with family and friends for a sunset sail on the schooner Fame in Salem, Massachusetts.
The schooner Fame is a replica of the fast fishing schooner which plied the waters off Cape Cod and Cape Ann in the war of 1812 and was arguably the first privateer to bring home a prize.The cruise of Salem harbor and its environs will last for a little under 2 hours and departs at 5pm from Pickering Wharf in downtown Salem, MA. Sunset occurs handily at 6.28pm. There is a municipal parking lot close at hand and Salem MBTA station is a short ride away by taxi.
Salem's attractions -- in addition to its well advertised place as the northeast's "Witch City" are many. They include the Peabody Essex Museum, Nathaniel Hawthorne's House of Seven Gables and some good places to shop and have lunch.Costs are: $25.50 for adults, $12.75 for children and $21.25 for seniors. Payment will be taken at the dockside on the day.
Refreshments and water are available for purchase on board. Food can be brought aboard, but no coolers or alcohol.
Places on board are limited and will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
