For many, Gaelic is generally associated with the western islands of Scotland where it is still a community language. However, at one time the language was spoken across most of Scotland and the earliest surviving identifiably Scottish Gaelic writing actually comes from Aberdeenshire.
During this online presentation on Wednesday 1 November from 4pm (GMT), Professor Michelle Macleod will reflect on Gaelic’s historic presence around the North-East; she will also talk about what the University is doing to promote and preserve one of Scotland’s oldest languages for future generations.
