Join us for a fascinating session on genetics, led by Professor Jonathan Pettitt, on Thursday 29 September from 4pm-5.15pm (BST).
Your DNA is not your destiny, but what about your ancestry? The availability of relatively cheap, direct-to-consumer genetic tests means that many people are now using genetics to build genealogies and learn about their recent and distant forebears. In this talk, Professor Pettitt will explore the science of genetic testing, the sometimes counterintuitive implications of human genetics and address controversial questions, such as: 'Is race a scientifc concept?', 'Are designer babies something to worry about?', and, 'Why does my earwax smell?’
