The margins between success and failure in sport can be extremely small - much less than a 1.0% difference between 1st and 4th! In an age where marginal gains might offer a route to success in sports, where do we draw the line in terms of gaining an advantage?
The summer Olympic Games of Tokyo 2021 is a platform for the world's best athletes to demonstrate their skill, strength and endurance. While the feats are impressive, we commonly observe at a later date the records and medals wiped from history due to doping violations. This talk by Dr Derek Ball (a 1993 University of Aberdeen alumnus) on Thursday 15 July from 4pm (BST) covers some of these issues and discusses the challenges faced by the anti-doping administrators.
