In celebration of Europe Day 2021, Co-Leader of our Alumni Chapter in Brussels, Alison Farquhar, has offered to share her experience working in Europe. During our event on Thursday 27 May 2021 from 1pm-2pm (BST) Alison and Professor Florian Becker will discuss her career journey from Scotland to Belgium as a legal professional. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions.
Alison graduated from the University in 2007 with an LLB in Law and Belgian Law. During her time at the University, she undertook an ERASMUS year abroad at the Université Libre de Bruxelles. After graduating, she completed a Masters in European Law at the College of Bruges and a Legal Practising Certificate from the College of Law. In 2009 she began working as a Trainee Solicitor for Clifford Chance LLP where she was based in both London and Paris, then progressing to become an Associate specialising in EU and UK competition law and regulatory law, and advising clients on global mergers, acquisitions, strategic alliances and joint ventures across a range of sectors. In 2017 she began working for the European Commission in Brussels as a Case Handler in the Anti-Trust Unit and has recently begun a new role as a EU Competition Counsel for Amazon in Brussels.
