We hope you will join us at this fascinating event, which we are hosting in partnership with the Museums and Special Collections team. The exhibition, titled ‘Substance to Style: Traditional Arts of East Asia’, takes place in The Gallery on the ground floor of The Sir Duncan Rice Library explores the use of different materials across East Asia to create unique and exceptional pieces of art, such as Japanese netsukes, three-thousand-year-old Chinese bronze vessels, a volume of a rare Chinese encyclopedia and a samurai suit of armour.
The exhibition is the result of a review of the collections undertaken by the Museums and Special Collections team, alongside curators from National Museums Scotland (NMS), and will be enhanced by objects on loan from NMS, including Korean pottery and Japanese woodblock prints. The curators will be on hand to provide a brief overview of the exhibition and museum staff will guide us through an exclusive object-handling session. There will also be drinks and canapés, making this the perfect opportunity to catch up with fellow alumni and friends.
Tickets are priced at £6 per person. As always, please feel free to book additional places for friends and family.
