Premiere performance of 'Requiem: The Souls of The Righteous' by Professor Paul Mealor OStJ
The University of Aberdeen is delighted to host an exclusive premiere concert of acclaimed composer, Paul Mealor’s new Requiem performed by the distinguished, Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the National Youth Choir of Scotland, and conducted by Christopher Bell.
To mark the forthcoming centenary of the end of World War One, Paul Mealor - Professor of Composition at the University of Aberdeen - has composed a Requiem on themes of peace and reconciliation to traditional Latin texts and new poems by the celebrated poet, Grahame Davies. This inspirational Requiem brings together the young voices of Scotland with our national orchestra in a fitting tribute to those who lost their lives in this war and all wars.
This concert is generously supported by Ms Margaret Carlaw and Professor Derek Ogston CBE.
This event will raise funds for Osteoarthritis research at the University of Aberdeen.
