This Valentine's Day we are celebrating the story of Tanatthep Tianprasit and Yada Dejchai who met at the University in September 2017. Tanatthep received a Royal Thai Government Scholarship to undertake a PhD in Law at University from 2014-2018 and Yada received the Elphinstone Scholarship from the University to undertake her PhD from 2017-2020.
With both of their PhDs relating to Criminal Law, after meeting. their relationship developed from there. Tanatthep passed his viva in August 2018 and then returned to Thailand where he now works as a lecturer at the School of Law, National Institute of Development Administration of Thailand (NIDA), the only university in Thailand to offer postgrad degrees exclusively. Yada stayed in Aberdeen to complete her PhD and returned to Thailand in July 2020. In November 2020 she passed her viva and is now working as a lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Thammasat University, also known as the first School of Law in Thailand.
We wish them both congratulations on their recent marriage which took place on 15 January 2022. They hope to travel back to Scotland (and of course, Aberdeen) for their honeymoon.
