We were saddened to learn of the recent passing of former member of staff and honorary graduate Eddie Stevenson who was honoured by HRH Queen Elizabeth II with an MBE.
Eddie worked in the biomedical physics department at the University for over 44 year and, as a chief technician, was a member of Professor John Mallard's pioneering team which created the world's first full-body MRI imaging scanner.
He was also well known for delighting Aberdonians, many of whom made an annual trip down Ashgrove Road West, every Christmas for almost 40 years with his garden displays of Disney and fairytale characters which raised more than £250,000 for various children’s charities.
Eddie’s dedication to his job and his charitable work was exceptional and he was awarded an MBE for services to healthcare and charity in 2010 and an MUniv by the University in 2019. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
