This week we had the real pleasure of welcoming Professor André Filipe de M. Batista,Technical Coordinator of the Data Science Centre at Insper in São Paulo Brasil, to the Aberdeen Centre for Health Data Science.
During the two-day visit André and his two colleagues, Luciana de Paula Arjona and Suelane Garcia Fontes, presented an overview of Insper and their Data Science Centre, current research and teaching programmes, and ambitions for the future.
The team from Insper met with ACHDS colleagues from NHS Grampian and from across the University including Global Health, Computing Science, Health Services Research Unit, Academic Primary Care and the Aberdeen Centre for Women’s Health Research.
The Insper team also met with Katie Wilde and the Grampian Data Safe Haven (DaSH) Team and visited our local SafePOD.
We first met André during a networking visit to São Paulo in 2019 and a return visit to Aberdeen in 2020, as part of our Academy of Medical Sciences Brazil Networking award. We’ve continued to build links and are really excited to explore new opportunities for collaborations in research and teaching.
