Yemi tells us about her experiences as a new member of our group and how much she looks forward to more engagements and collaborations |
- Tell us about your role at ACE
-
Although I have just joined ACE, and so far, it has been great being given the opportunity to engage and positively engage and contribute to research in the light of benefit to the public. It has been awesome and engaging and insightful to hear from other people's points of view, thoughts, and ideas and how widely different individuals pick up different aspects of things from different schools of thought. I look forward to more contributions and engagement that will benefit patients and the public as well as looking forward to collaborations and learning from people's thoughts, ideas, and better ways of doing things.
- Tell us a bit about your background and what you do now
-
My background is in sciences with a Major in Anatomy and an M.Sc. in Public Health and Health Promotion. I currently work in the community as a support worker.
- What is your favourite thing about your role in ACE?
-
There's absolutely nothing not to like about this group. Everyone is accommodating, jovial, and helpful. I love the fact you can be yourself and give your opinions freely, ask questions with people ready to reason with you, and provide a response. From the first time I met the team members, I felt included and accepted. It is indeed such a good feeling. I look forward to more engagements and collaborations. Engagements and meetings so far have been insightful and terrific. I also look forward to more friendly chats, jokes, and laughs.
- How do you usually start your day?
-
I usually start my day by drinking water (they say water is life), saying a prayer, and then doing some light exercises, having some fruits, and then a cup of tea /coffee.
- How do you relax?
-
Relaxation for me is having a decadent piece of cake and an ice cream while watching a movie (not horror). I also enjoy taking a walk and admiring nature in all its pristineness.
- What was the last thing you shared on your social media profiles?
-
I think the last thing I shared on social media (WhatsApp) was a throwback photo of myself and then an infographic showing the disbenefits of sleep deprivation.
