International Social Pharmacy Workshop (ISPW) Conference July 19th - 22nd, 2016

We look forward to welcoming delegates from around the world to the ISPW 2016 conference. Over 170 delegates from 27 countries and five continents will attend this event, the theme of which is: Improving pharmacy practice: education, evidence and change. This is the first time the biennial conference has been held in Scotland.

The conference programme comprises workshops, oral and poster sessions, as well as keynote presentations from: Professor Rose Marie Parr, Chief Pharmacist (Scotland); Professor Nick Barber, Emeritus Professor of Pharmacy Practice, University College London and immediate past Director of Research, Health Foundation; and Professor Ian Graham, Senior Scientist at the Centre for Practice-Changing Research, Ottawa Hospital Research Institute. Professor Graham will also deliver a workshop on behalf of the Health Services Research Unit, University of Aberdeen. He is internationally renowned for his work on Knowledge Translation and his workshop will be a great opportunity to learn more about the subject particularly in terms of maximising the impact of research.

But it won’t be all work and no play for the delegates who will be welcomed to the Aberdeen City with a Civic Reception in the Town House on the first evening, have the opportunity of excursions around the city, ‘Shire and North East on the free afternoon and complete their Scottish experience with a traditional ceilidh dinner in Elphinstone Hall on the final night, piped in by our very own Professor Steve Heys with the address to the haggis by Dr Peter Murchie, Centre of Academic Primary Care. The event is being hosted by Scientific Chair, Dr Mags Watson and CPD Services and is supported by Visit Aberdeen, Visit Scotland, HSRU and the School of Medicine and Dentistry.
