Terms & Conditions

1. The University of Aberdeen's 'Student Accommodation Competition' is being held by the University of Aberdeen ("UoA") which is a charity registered in Scotland No. SC013683 and with its registered address at King's College, Aberdeen, AB24 3FX.
2. The competition is open to those who will be starting their first year of a full-time, on-campus, undergraduate, postgraduate taught, or postgraduate research degree at the University of Aberdeen in September 2024.
3. The competition opens on Monday 8th April 2024. The competition will close at midnight GMT on Tuesday 16th April 2024. Any entries received after this date will not be eligible for a prize.
4. The Prize is one year's free accommodation staying in a single standard self-catering room provided by the University of Aberdeen Accommodation team. If the winner is an undergraduate they will stay at the Hillhead Student Village for 40 weeks. If the winner is a postgraduate they will stay at Elphinstone Road or South House. No cash value will be given should the winner choose to stay in alternative accommodation or if they study online.
5. Winners will be chosen at the discretion of the University of Aberdeen. The winner and runners up will be announced during a Facebook Live prize draw on Thursday 25th April 2024. They will then be notified via email on the same day.
6. The winner may be requested to take part in any prize promotional activity and UoA reserves the right to use the name and location of the winner, their photograph, audio and/or visual recording of them in relation to any competition publicity or for UoA's marketing purposes. By entering this competition you agree that if awarded the prize you will co-operate with all reasonable publicity purposes if so requested.
7. The winners must complete the anagram on the final day of the competition and provide their details when submitting their entry.
8. UoA's decision will be final and binding, and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into regarding the conduct or outcome of the competition.
9. The winner must not have benefited from any other University of Aberdeen discounted accommodation or incentive.
10. UoA reserves the right in its reasonable discretion:
    1. to disqualify any competitor whose conduct is in breach of the Rules or contrary to the spirit of the Rules or the intention of the competition;
    2. to declare any entries void.
11. By entering this competition you agree that UoA shall have no liability for any printing, production and/or distribution errors (including but not limited to any errors in UoA, this website or any printed materials) or where there have been any errors in any aspect of the preparation for or conduct of the competition materially affecting the result of the competition.
12. Subject to Condition 6 above, any personal data submitted by you in your entry to this competition will be used solely in accordance with current UK data protection legislation and UoA's privacy policy.
13. UoA reserves the right to amend or waive any of these Rules or cancel the competition at any time.
14. No refund will be given if the student withdraws from the University or cancels their accommodation contract
15. Entry to the competition confirms your acceptance of these Rules.
