Information that we collect and use about you
The University collects and uses the following personal information about individuals who choose to enrol on one of our Open Learning short courses.
The data we process:
- Your first and last name
- Email address
- Country
- Any information you volunteer as part of the course
Consent to being contacted by the University
We will ask you to wish to consent to us using your data to send you information about similar courses offered by the University that may be of interest to you. You can unsubscribe from these mailing lists through the “Unsubscribe” option on the email.
Why we process this information, and our lawful basis
We collect and use your personal information for the purposes of providing you with access to and to enable you to complete our short courses.
There are several lawful bases on which the University routinely processes your personal information. These are:
- for the University’s statutory powers to provide teaching, promote research and administer the University
- your consent for the University to contact you about new courses that may be of interest to you
Disclosing your information
Your data will not be routinely shared out with the University.
Your name that you register with will be known to other participants on the same course. This is to allow interactive learning opportunities between you.
The third-party suppliers we use for IT support also have access to your personal information in order to provide these services to the University.
We may disclose personal information to other recipients in exceptional circumstances or when required to do so by law.
How long your information is kept
Your data is kept for the period of time that you are active on the platform using the courses. If there is no activity after 6 months, your user account is archived and deleted after one additional month.
