Notice and Takedown
If you have reason to believe that materials belonging to the University of Aberdeen have been copied to a web site or sites not under the control of the University of Aberdeen, or if you have reason to believe that copyright material appears on the University of Aberdeen website of which you are the copyright owner, or empowered to act on the copyright owner's behalf, and:
- You have not granted permission for, or licensed, it to be used
- You consider that its use is not covered by a relevant exception provided for in the United Kingdom's Copyright Designs and Patents Act 1988, as amended
Then please contact communications@abdn.ac.uk stating:
- Your contact details
- The URL where you found the material and the date of access
- The specific details of the item(s) concerned and the grounds of your objection
- Proof that you are the rights holder or an authorised representative of the rights holder
On receipt of your notice the following procedure will be followed:
- The University of Aberdeen will acknowledge receipt of your notice and make an assessment of the validity of the notice
- Third party websites or webhosts will be contacted with notice of the complaint
- Material on the University of Aberdeen website related to a valid notice will be taken down
- The member of the University who placed the material on the website will be identified, and provided with the notice and details of the objections to use of the material
- The member of the University who placed the material on the website will be encouraged to contact the copyright owner or their authorised representative to resolve the issue, whereupon the materials may be placed online in a form agreeable to the rights holder, or under conditions agreed with the rights holder
