Scholarship support for students impacted by events in Afghanistan

The University of Aberdeen is offering scholarship opportunities to new students impacted by the situation in Afghanistan.

The University is partnering with the British Council as part of its Warm Welcome Scholarships Scheme to offer postgraduate study opportunities to prospective eligible students* who are starting their studies on-campus in September.

A total of six scholarships are available, which include full tuition fee waivers and maintenance support valued at £12,900 a year, to assist with living costs for the duration of study.

Among the areas prioritised under the initiative are education and teaching, health and social care, engineering, and medical sciences – however a wide range of the University courses are on offer.

Those who wish to be considered for the scholarship scheme need to apply to their chosen programme by 11 June, and the University will be in touch with scholarship applicants to keep them informed on progress.

Professor Adelyn Wilson, the University’s Dean for International Stakeholder Engagement, said:

“We are proud to be partnering with the British Council in the Warm Welcome Scholarships, and to provide this support for students affected by the situation in Afghanistan.

“Our University was founded on the principle of being open to all, and these scholarships reflect that commitment.

“The scholarships also build on the support recently announced for students affected by the war in Ukraine well as our Sanctuary Scholarships for refugees and asylum seekers from across the world.”

Anyone who wishes to apply, or wants more information regarding the scholarships, should contact study@abdn.ac.uk
