Biography
After graduating in Biological Sciences in Rome, Italy, I moved to Scotland to do a PhD in Life Sciences at the University of Dundee, funded by a European Commission's Marie Curie Fellowship. I then moved to the University of Edinburgh as a postdoctoral Research Fellow to study the regulation of protein synthesis. These studies continued at the University of Aberdeen in the team of Professor Ian Stansfield. During my postdoctoral years, I developed my interest in stakeholder and public engagement with research and became a STEM ambassador.
In 2015, following the award of the Wellcome Trust Institutional Support Strategic Fund (ISSF) to the University, I had the opportunity to join the Public Engagement with Research Unit, developing and coordinating public engagement activities across the biomedical sciences and supporting researchers to develop their public engagement portfolio.
In September 2022 I started a secondment in Industry Partnership, where I am supporting academics to initiate and/or consolidate collaborations with industry. This involves co-development of research projects, building relationships with external organisations and understanding industry’s challenges and priorities aligning to Aberdeen 2040 strategy.
