Successful PAX Moot Court Half-Day Conference on Dispute Resolution in Private International Law

The Centre for Private International Law at the School of Law, in collaboration with the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana, hosted a succesful half-day conference on Dispute Resolution in Private International Law.

During the PAX moot court competition in Ljubljana on 26 April 2024, the Centre for Private International Law at the School of Law, University of Aberdeen, in collaboration with the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana, hosted a half-day conference on Dispute Resolution in Private International Law.

The conference provided a platform for an insightful exploration of various topics within the realm of private international law. Renowned experts in Dispute Resolution and Private International Law delivered keynote addresses: Professor Ronald A. Brand, Chancellor Mark A. Nordenberg University Professor, and Director of the Center for International Legal Education at the University of Pittsburgh, and Professor Marta Pertegás Sender, Visiting Professor at the University of Antwerp and Chair of Private International Law and Transnational Law at the University of Maastricht.

The event continued with parallel sessions, each led by distinguished moderators, allowing participants to follow and contribute to discussions on specific themes of Private International Law and Commercial Arbitration (moderated by Professor Ronald A. Brand, University of Pittsburgh), Business and Human Rights Litigation and Private International Law (moderated by Dr. Uglješa Grušić, Associate Professor, Faculty of Laws, University College London), and Decolonial Perspectives on Private International Law (moderated by Professor Thalia Kruger, University of Antwerp)

Each stream featured discussions led by expert discussants, offering diverse perspectives and insights into the challenges and opportunities within the field. The organisers would like to express their gratitude to all speakers, moderators, and attendees for their valuable contributions. They look forward to continuing the dialogue and collaboration in future initiatives.
