Clinical photography
Images for medical records
Medical photography provides NHS Grampian with specialist photographic services to help clinicians diagnose and document stages of patient illnesses and clinical conditions. Clinical images can be used as part of a patient’s assessment and care to aid treatment planning, monitor progress, and triage.
With appropriate consent, recordings may also be used to support teaching, medical publications, patient information, and research. Our services are available to external clients across the UK to aid medico-legal cases of Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence, providing accurate and lawful photographic evidence.
Our medical photographers are professionally qualified and accredited, registered with the Academy for Healthcare Science (AHCS) for appropriate regulation, and operate under the Code of Professional Conduct, as professional members, of the Institute of Medical Illustrators. Patients are treated with the utmost respect, dignity, and care at all times.
We are trained to operate in a photographic studio, hospital wards/clinics and surgical theatres, using specialist equipment for high-quality photography of the body, extra/intra oral, and dermoscopic imaging.
