A gentle introduction to the subject how AGN have contributed to our understanding of the Universe.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, something was feeding. That something was a supermassive black hole. When these things snack, they have the potential to outshine their entire host galaxy and it is this light that we can observe today. Termed Active Galactic Nuclei, they provide astronomers with evidence of extreme physical processes which are not yet fully understood. This will be a gentle introduction to the subject of AGN and how they have contributed to our understanding of the Universe. You'll need to bring your own snacks though...
