Water – A background

To supplement the University’s Environmental Policy Statement in May 2007, a Utilities Policy was created outlining the University’s commitments to reducing both water and energy use on campus. It outlines legislative requirements, long-term objectives and details targets that the University is attempting to achieve. The policy can be viewed here.
Through this Policy, there is an obligation of all staff and students at the University to make attempts to cut their energy and water use.
The Environment Office at Estates has overall responsibility for organising and implementing water efficiency measures. Implementation takes place via the:
- Provision of advice and guidance from the Environment Office website, email circulars, bulletins and briefings.
- Promotion of initiatives and awareness raising measures to support energy and water conservation by the Environment Office.
- Monitoring, measuring and reviewing Energy and Water management targets set by the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Group.
