Research in the energetics group has covered six different areas that are affected by the phenomena of energy expenditure and energy balance. Research in four of these areas (obesity, ageing, limits on sustained energy expenditure, and quantification of free-living energy demands) are all ongoing active areas of research. Work in another two (the energetics of flight and bat biology) are both areas that are now largely completed. Use the links on the side bar to see the details of the research in each of these areas.
Obesity and ageing are two important areas where our work on energetics has potentially important implications for human health.
Our work has been generously supported by the UK research councils BBSRC and NERC, as well as the Wellcome Trust.
In addition we have recieved financial support from the Waltham centre for Pet Nutrition, Astrazeneca and Pfizer.
