Aberdeen offers exciting opportunities for studying Biological Science courses that include Biology, Zoology, Marine Biology, Conservation Biology, Tropical Environmental Science and many other related topics.
We are delighted to say that biology teaching at Aberdeen has been graded as 'Excellent' by the Scottish Higher Education Funding Council, and is provided by research-active staff who study a wide range of animals, plants and environments. Equally importantly, the completely independent National Student Survey for 2008 has ranked Aberdeen as 10th out of all UK universities for 'Overall Satisfaction' for students, with very high scores in biology across the range of headings, including Teaching, Academic Support, Assessment and Feedback, Organisation, Learning Resources and Personal Development. You can be sure of a friendly and supportive welcome if you study with us.
We are renowned for our focus on "whole organism" biology. Our modern teaching laboratories in Aberdeen are complemented by Field Stations in Sutherland, the Black Isle and at the Ythan Estuary, that provide students with access to some of Scotland's most spectacular environments. With our student exchange programmes, student-led expeditions and active research in habitats from the deep ocean to tropical rainforests, we offer students unique opportunities to study under- and over-seas for part of their course.
We give students great flexibility to choose from a wide range of courses and so to tailor their degrees to their main interests. Our main degrees in Zoology, Marine Biology and Biology are complemented by focussed degrees across the spectrum of modern biology.
We also offer Part-time and Distance Learning Opportunities in Biology. Please click here for further details.
